Although many visitors to Tanzania are attracted to the renowned Zanzibar Archipelago, the mainland coast has a number of beautiful lodges and an untouched, wild feel. The beaches here tend to be much more private than those in Zanzibar and the accommodations offer seriously good value compared with those on the islands.

Pemba is a beautifully quiet island that lies about 25 minutes flight North of Zanzibar. With a fraction of the visitors that visit Zanzibar visiting Pemba, the island has very few hotels yet retains a wonderfully relaxed atmosphere. The ocean here provides for some of Tanzania's best dive sites and subsequently Pemba is a Mecca for serious divers and for people wanting to escape the hussle and bustle of Zanzibar.
